Founder’s Note By Beverly Vanterpool, Founder of Career Sistas and Author of Build Your Table
This month feels like a moment of real momentum for Career Sistas. Although Build Your Power officially launched in April, this is our first full newsletter since its release, so I want to take a moment to reintroduce it properly.
Build Your Power is our new digital careers magazine created to amplify real stories, practical insight and the lived experiences of women and other underrepresented professionals. It brings together wisdom, tools and honest conversations about navigating modern work, leadership and entrepreneurship.
Now that Issue 1 is out in the world, I have been genuinely encouraged by the response. Thank you to everyone who contributed, shared or took the time to read it. Your engagement is what transforms a magazine from an idea into something living and impactful.
May also marks one year since the very first episode of Stories by Career Sistas went live. What began as a simple intention to create space for honest career conversations has grown into more than forty five episodes across two seasons.
As we continue to build, we have made the decision to move to a biweekly release schedule. This allows us to maintain quality while giving the team the space to manage the wider ecosystem. If you have missed any episodes, this is the perfect time to explore our back catalogue. There is so much wisdom, honesty and practical insight waiting for you.
On a personal note, I have recently stepped into a new professional role. The past fifteen months have been fully dedicated to writing Build Your Table, launching Career Sistas, producing the podcast and creating the magazine. Now that the ecosystem is established and the foundations are in place, I have returned to full time work. Things will operate a little differently, but this is also the beginning of the real test.
Career Sistas is entering its next chapter. Like a baby moving into the toddler stage, this is the moment where it begins to walk on its own, supported by the structure, purpose and community that have been built around it.
I am excited to see how it grows, evolves and continues to empower women and people of colour across every sector. Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping bring these ideas to life. Your support is the reason this work continues.
